The singer had a string of huge hits in the late 90’s and her performance at the closing of the Sydney Olympics is part of Australian history. Amorosi continued having hits and scored her first Australian number one with This Is Who I Am, from her Hazard album, in 2009.

Her follow up album however never got a release, and Vanessa left her record company and began working as an independent artist.

Amorosi moved to Los Angeles in 2011 to begin that journey of self-discovery and develop her music career in different ways and immersed herself in all kinds of musical experiences. She became obsessed with exploring the real roots of her first and greatest musical love — gospel. Vanessa Amorosi is now a familiar face on the local live scene, regularly performing alongside the best musicians in the world.

In Los Angeles Amorosi began working with producer Dave Stewart from The Eurythmics, and has spent the last few years putting together her comeback album.

The new record is described as a diverse mix of rocks tracks, dance tracks and a power ballad which will all be released in coming months.

The songwriting collaborators on the new record include Sweden’s Aleena Gibson (Jason Derulo, Nick Carter) and Trevor Muzzy (Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga), as well as Jon Levine (Drake, Dua Lipa), Jordan Palmer (Andy Grammar, Lights), Louis Schoorl (Tina Arena, 5 Seconds Of Summer), and Levi Lennox (ZAYN, M.I.A.).

Amorosi has uploaded a snippet of her new tune to her website, showcasing her powerful vocals.  OUTinPerth has heard the new tune in full and it’s one that gets you on the first listen.

Heavy Lies the Head is out on 5th April.
