The line-up of talent in this year’s Jamm 4 Genes® represents the sweet diversity of a healthy music scene. There is blues singer Jade MacCrae, legends Jon Stevens and Glenn Shorrock, new country sensations The McClymonts, Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole, and Australian Idol hits Courtney Act and Anthony Callea.

These stars will be asking Australians of all ages and musical tastes to run their own gig or attend a live music event and support the fundraising objectives of Jeans for Genes for the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI). CMRI investigates the causes of genetic diseases and conducts research to help develop better treatments or even prevention of many diseases such as epilepsy, cystic fibrosis and many childhood cancers.

Jamm 4 Genes patron, rock historian Glenn A Baker, is passionate in his commitment to the event as a music industry initiative that urges everyone to perform or attend an event while also donating to a great cause, children’s health.

‘Jamm 4 Genes calls on music venues and all bands to get involved. Big bands or small, young and old, new or established, workplace or school, town and country – if everyone played or attended a live music on August 3, this would be one of the biggest grassroots music events in Australia’, said the ever-enthusiastic Mr Baker!

His message is clear, get involved and start planning your own Jamm event. The call is also out for volunteers, Jamm Genies, to collect donations in the ‘Jamm jar’ at all music venues. To register your gig, sign up as a Jamm Genie, or see what’s on at a venue near you, visit www.jamm4genes.com.au. The website has helpful do-it-yourself tips and posters for download.

‘Last year events were held in all states and there was something for everyone in clubs, pubs, workplaces and schools. It was truly fantastic’.

Orchestras, rock n’ roll groups, air guitarists and schools bands are encouraged to get on stage and rock-out for this worthy cause.

The Host Event in Sydney on the night of August 3, Jeans for Genes Day, will be at the Gaelic Club where Glenn Shorrock and other spokespeople will perform.
