La Roux says she's disgusted over how Fox News used 'Bulletproof'

Musician La Roux has shared her disgust that Fox News has used her hit song Bulletproof to promote a story about bulletproof clothing for children.

The US news network played her song, which features the lyrics “this time, baby, I’ll be bulletproof”, while introducing an item on “ballistic protective equipment” on its Mornings With Maria show.

“Using Bulletproof, a song I wrote about relationships, for a piece like this is abhorrent,” La Roux singer Elly Jackson said in a statement. “I have never, and would never, approve my music to be used in this way.”

The segment has been criticised for glamourising the USA’s gun culture and has been seen in poor taste following a spate of school shootings.

The song was a hit for La Roux back in 2009, since then the singer has released a follow-up album and also contributed to a record from New Order.
