Ed Sheeran will sing Candle in the Wind, Florence and the Machine will perform Tiny Dancer, Coldplay will take on We All Fall in Love Sometimes from Elton’s 1975 album Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy.

Q-Tip and Demi Lovato will duet on Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, while Mary J Blige will sing Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word.  Miley Cyrus will deliver her take on Don’t Let the Sun go Down on Me.

The Killers have chosen Mona Lisas and Mad Matters, while Sam Smith will perform Daniel, Lady Gaga has recorded Your Song, Mumford and Sons do Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Alessia Cara picked Someone Saved My Life Tonight and Queens of the Stone Age have signed up for Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Elton will appear on the record joining up with Pink and Logic for Bennie and the Jets.

Meanwhile a country take on Elton’s songs will be released by Universal Music. Restoration highlights country music’s biggest stars delivering thoughtful interpretations of Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s compositons.

Dierks Bentley, Rosanne Cash and Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill and Don Henley, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson, Brothers Osborne, Chris Stapleton, Rhonda Vincent and Dolly Parton and Lee Ann Womack have all recorded songs.

Miley Cyrus pulls double duty appearing on both upcoming records. On the country record she’ll perform The Bitch is Back.

Both albums will be released on 6th April.

It’s not the first time artists have paid tribute to Elton John and his songwriter partner Bernie Taupin. Back in the early ’90s Two Rooms: Celebrating the Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin featured another star studded line-up.

Kate Bush’s version of Rocket Man was once voted the greatest cover of all time by readers of Britain’s The Observer, Kate’s version even did better in the Australian charts than Elton’s recording.

Also appearing on the collection was Eric Clapton, Sinead O’Connor, George Michael, Tina Turner, The Beach Boys, Sting, Phil Collins, Joe Cocker, The Who and Rod Stewart.
