Mauboy previously performed at Eurovision in 2014 when it was held in Copenhagen, but she wasn’t an official entrant, instead delivering a showcase performance about Australia.

The following year Guy Sebastian was the first Australian singer to take part in the long running competition, in 2016 Dami Im almost took out the prize. Last year Isaiah Firebrace represented Australia in the Ukraine and came ninth in the competition.

The song that Mauboy will sing in the competition is expected to be revealed in early 2018.

Last year’s Eurovision winner receives life saving heart transplant

In 2018 the competition is being held in Lisbon, Portugal after their entry Salvador Sobral won this years battle with his subtle tune Amar Pelois Dois.

Sobral was not able to perform at the rehearsal shows for the competition because his doctors would only allow his to travel to the Ukraine for just one week due to a heart condition. His sister Luísa Sobral, who wrote the song, stood in for him at these performances.

In September the singer entered hospital and was moved into intensive care as his heart condition deteriorated, but two days ago he underwent a heart transplant is now expected to make a full recovery.

The Eurovision Song content will run from 8th to 12th May 2018.
