Coalition for Marriage's new ad says they're being bullied

The Coalition for Marriage has released its latest ad against allowing marriage equality in Australia.

The group have expressed disappointment that the advertisement could not be during the AFL grand final today, because it received an M rating. It will however be broadcast during the NRL grand final because of its later time slot.

The new advertisement collates social media posts that have described those opposed to allowing same sex couples the right to wed as; “sad, sad people”, “prehistoric bigots”, “Homophobic maggots”, “utter clowns” and “dinosaurs”.

The short spot opens up with the line “Love is Love” borrowing a popular slogan from the ‘Yes’ campaign.

Love Is Love

Here’s our ad, you might not get to see it this weekend as it received an M rating. We’re disappointed that what our opponents say is considered not suitable for young Australians. #meantweets #loveislove #youcansayno

Sky News first shared the story and a spokesman for the Coalition for Marriage said the social media comments contained within the advertisement were among “the cleanest” that they had received.

Tiernan Brady from the Equality Campaign said the ‘Yes’ side of the argument was committed to running a positive campaign.
