Eric Nally, who teamed up with Macklemore for the hit tune Downtown will be heading down under, and so will singer Mary Lambert who sings vocals on the Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis anthem Same Love.

Mackelmore and Lambert will perform their queer love anthem at the sporting event on Sunday 1 October, just as Australia enters the final month of the government’s marriage postal survey and associated debate.

Lambert spoke to OUTinPerth back in 2015 and told how the collaboration came about, and shared that her inspiration for the song came through trying to reconcile her sexuality with her Christian faith.

The song went to the top of the Australian charts for four weeks in February 2013 and was also nominated for Song of the Year at The Grammy Awards.

When the artists performed the song at The Grammys they were joined on stage by Queen Latifah who officiated a wedding of 33 same-sex and opposite sex couples, before Madonna joined the celebration interweaving her 80’s hot Open Your Heart in the tune.

Lambert later recorded her own version of the song titled She Keeps Me Warm.
