US broadcasters NBC have announced the upcoming Will & Grace revival will have a second series, before this year’s season has even hit our screens.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association, NBC chair Bob Goldblatt revealed the tenth season will have 13 episodes, and the impending ninth season has been granted an extra four episodes – bringing it up to 16.
The panel also told the crowd that the new episodes will not honour the original series finale, which sees the titular characters have a major falling out and stop speaking for almost two decades.
Creator Max Mutchnik has also told fans that Shelley Morrison, who played Karen’s right-hand lady Rosario, will not be making a return having decided to retire from acting.
The team held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the TCA event, marking the beginning of production on the new episodes. Will & Grace season 9 will air later this year.
