The South African actor plays Lorraine Broughton, a top-level MI6 agent and bisexual badass, on a top secret mission following the collapse of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Theron was asked why it was so important for her character to be recognised as bisexual.

“Why not?”, Theron replied. “It should be normalised by now.”

“It’s something that I feel is not represented enough in cinema and I feel like when you make movies, if you’re gonna hold that mirror up and reflect society, then you should reflect society.”

Atomic Blonde also stars James McAvoy, John Goodman and The Mummy star Sofia Boutella as French spy and fellow queer character, Delphine Lasalle.
