Get ready to swing with Michael, Luke, Ben and Rob

Some of Australia’s leading stage and screen stars will come together with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra for Swing on This, a showcase of swing-era hits presented as part of the WASO 2017 Pops Series.

Michael Falzon (We Will Rock You, The War of the Worlds Arena Tour), Luke Kennedy (The Voice, The Ten Tenors), Rob Mills (Wicked, Ghost the Musical) and Ben Mingay (Wonderland, House of Bond) will deliver a modern and audacious take on all-time swing classics from Sinatra to Bublé.

The show also features well-swung interpretations of hits from Oasis, John Farnham and The Proclaimers.

Timeless swing staples like Ain’t that a Kick in the Head, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Mack the Knife, Have You Met Miss Jones and New York, New York are given a contemporary make-over while more recent hits like Wonderwall, Jump, Tainted Love and Crazy Little Thing Called Love are cleverly re-imagined with a swing feel.

Renowned conductor, Vanessa Scammell, will lead WASO in this much-anticipated concert. Vanessa is in high demand as a conductor, Music Director and Musical Supervisor for Australia’s leading performing arts organisations in the areas of concert, opera, ballet and musical theatre.

In a setting that evokes the cool of a big-band dance club from a bygone age, Swing on This will transport audiences back to a time when showmanship and repartee were integral parts of song and dance routines.

Tickets on sale now at WASO on 9326 0000 or www.waso.com.au

Some highlights from our concert at The Arts Centre Gold Coast in March. Yep, we nearly took the roof off the place.
