The long-serving employee of The Australian, Leak has been described by his employers at NewsCorp as “a giant in his field of cartooning and portraiture”.

Paul Whittaker, Editor in Chief at The Australian, says he knows that many people at the publication will be inconsolable over the tragic loss.

Leak was much maligned for his work due to his incendiary cartoons which include depictions LGBTIQ advocates as Nazi stormtroopers and indigenous Australians as unfit parents, among others.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Leak told audiences at a book launch on Wednesday that political correctness is “a poison that attacks the sense of humour” and “infects an awful lot of precious little snowflakes.”
