Superstar Paula Abdul is set to play a sitcom version of herself in an upcoming television project with US broadcaster NBC.
The singer has signed on film a series with Fresh Off The Boat and How I Met Your Mother writer Kourtney Kang.
The series is set to revolve around the life of Kang as “the only girl in the only mixed race family in the suburbs of Philadelphia.”
The shows synopsis highlights that the character based on Kang is obsessed with becoming “a Laker Girl like her idol, Paula Abdul.”
Abdul, a long time LGBTIQ ally and RuPaul’s Drag Race guest judge, will join Liza Minnelli, Seinfeld creator Larry David, former TV Batman Adam West and Dawson’s Creek‘s James van der Beek and many others in playing gleeful parodies of their real personalities on screen.
There is no word yet as to what Abdul’s role will be in the as-yet untitled program, but we’re looking forward to studying the vibeology.
