The Circus Is In Town

Shows of all varieties come and go but few rival the true magnificence of Cirque Du Soleil. Saltimbanco, the longest running Cirque du Soleil touring show, is in town this month with its kaleidoscopic and entrancing performance; a feast for the senses. Part of the Saltimbanco crew, Maxime Charbonneau told OUTinPerth from Cape Town, South Africa what to expect from this spectacular soiree.

‘It’s a very vibrant and colourful production. For the people who saw it 12 years ago, they will find the same energy,’ Charbonneau said.

‘If you’ve never seen a Cirque du Soleil show, it’s your perfect introduction to this crazy world. It still touches people; it still moves people wherever we go. It’s a show full of colour and some of the original creators described it as ‘a bowl of joy’.

With a cast of some 00 to 95 people, the show is an extravagant homage to the traditional circus format. ‘It’s high acrobatics, beautiful characters and you don’t have to think when you watch it, just enjoy what is in front of you.’

Saltimbanco is at Challenge Stadium from April 21
