Lambert joins Guy Sebastian and Iggy Azalea on the judging panel this year. The show has dropped the usual fourth judge, meaning there will be less contestants and categories in the series.

Lambert has said that he’s excited to be heading down under for an extended stay noting that he’s always enjoyed touring here.

“I am very excited to join The X Factor in Australia as a judge and am looking forward to helping people shine their brightest,” Lambert said in a statement.

The ‘American Idol’ winner had his biggest ever Australian hit in 2015 with his track ‘Ghost Town’. He’s previously toured Australian as a solo artist and as the guest lead singer of Queen.

Sebastian is the only judge remaining from the last series following the departure of Dannii Minogue, Chris Isaak and James Blunt.

Past judges have included Redfoo, Mel B, Kate Ceberano, Natalie Bassingthwaite, Kyle Sandilands, Natalie Imbruglia and Boyzone singer Ronan Keating – who has now jumped over to rival talent show ‘The Voice’.
