A drag queen from Manchester has tried out for the British version of ‘The Voice’ by singing a tune from a Gilbert and Sullivan opera.
Divina De Campo delivered her version of ‘Poor Wandering One’ from ‘The Pirates Of Penzance’.
The singer can certainly hold a tune, but is it enough to get the judges to hit their buzzers and spin around?
This year ‘The Voice UK’ has some new judges with Boy George and Paloma Faith joining the show alongside Ricky Wilson from Kaiser Chiefs and Will.i.am.
Will.i.am is the only judge to stay with the UK version through all five series of the show. During that time the other chairs have seen Sir Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, Jessie J, and Danny O’Donaghue, lead singer of the band The Script, come and go.
The show might have some major changes in 2017 when it moves from the BBC to ITV. The Australian version of ‘The Voice’ will be back on Channel Nine later this year with Ronan Keating replacing Ricky Martin in the judging line-up. Delta Goodrem, the Madden Brothers and Jessie J will all be returning.
