Tina Arena was unchained last night for a stellar performance at last night’s ARIA awards, with a little help from some friends.
Arena lit up the stage with an earth-shattering performance of her smash hit ‘Chains’, with additional vocals from Jessica Mauboy and The Veronicas.
Kylie Minogue joined her friend on stage to induct Arena into the ARIA Hall of Fame, an honour will now share with fellow icons Olivia Newton-John, Nick Cave and The Wiggles.
From her beginnings on televisions ‘Young Talent Time’, Arena has had a long and consistent career in Australia and on the international music scene, releasing her eleventh studio album this year. Arena used her acceptance speech to highlight sexism in the Australian music industry – acknowledging her musical sisters over the age of 40.
“Continue to support Australian music on the quality of the song and not the age of the artist,” Arena said, pointing out the great success and talents of Annie Lennox, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Kylie Minogue.
“Don’t meet your Australian quotas because you have to. Exceed them because you want to.”

Tina’s ARIA version of ‘Chains’ is due to be released on iTunes later today.
