Christine Sindt, the LaTrobe city councillor who was in hot water earlier this year over her comments about marriage equality, and Muslim people, has published an apology on her Facebook page.
Three councillors from Latrobe City, in Gippsland, complained about their colleagues behaviour and the matter went to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) last week.
In separate incidents Ms Sindt made comments about Muslim people and later posted comments about federal MP Darren Chester – disapproving of his support for marriage equality. Ms Sindt’s comments about Mr Chester could not be re-published for legal reasons.
The case was withdrawn and Ms Sindt agreed to post an apology and monitor comments made by other people on her Facebook page.
Ms Sindt said the complaint had lead to months of intimidation and harassment but the Councillor said she apologised for any offence that resulted from her comments.
