Magda Szubanski heads to Perth for memoir Q&A

magdaOut entertainer and Australian television icon Magda Szubanski is heading to Perth this month to discuss her brand new autobiography, ‘Reckoning: A Memoir’ and share her journey with the west coast.

Known for her roles as Sharon Strzelecki (‘Kath & Kim’) and Esme Hoggett (‘Babe’), the actor makes her first foray into publishing with a very honest and intimate memoir of her personal experience.

‘Reckoning’ touches on Szubanski’s relationship with her father and the after effects of his role as an intelligence officer in war-time Poland, her vibrant and varied career in Australian television and the silver screen, and learning to accept her sexuality as she journeyed into adulthood.

Beaufort Street Books will be bringing Szubanski to Perth College, along with actor Geraldine Mellet (TV’s ‘Paper Giants’, ABC720 radio) to discuss the creation of ‘Reckoning’, with an open Q&A session and book signing at the end of the session.

Magda Szubanski and Geraldine Mellet will be appearing at Perth College, Judith Cottier Theatre, Mt Lawley, Monday 19th October. Tickets available from beaufortstreetbooks.com.au

  1. I am reading the book right now. Far from the lighthearted characters she is well known for, Magda’s narrative is harrowing. However, it is her ability to reveal herself in all her vulnerabilities with such beautiful prose that lifts this far and above other celebrity memoirs.
