The fabulous funnyman has just returned from his overseas tour and is heading home for a charity gala to raise awareness of mental health issues.

How are you Joel?

I’m really great, I’ve only been back in Australia for a few days and I’m thrilled to be back.

You’ve been overseas so much this year, what percentage of your time has been out of the country?

Probably fifty percent, or even more because I was in Africa for two months, and I’ve been in America for about two months.

Last time we chatted you swore to us that you weren’t in “I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here’, you lied to us.

I lied to so many people. Was I convincing liar, did you believe me?

I just thought all these people who were reporting that you were in were really crap journalists.

It was so hard to hide it because I had to go to meetings at the South African Embassy, and we all had to go have quite a hardcore medical. I went to this Doctor’s surgery in Richmond and they snuck me in the back door, it was very cloak and dagger.

On the plane they told us to wear a hat and sunnies, but I thought, that’s only going to draw more attention isn’t it.

I think most people were spotted on the planes.

Chrissy Swan was because she was sitting next to a journo from New Idea which was just pure coincidence. When my name got leaked it was the same time that Barry Hall’s name was leaked and since I knew it was true I was going in, I figured it must be true that he was too.

What did you learn from bring in the jungle?

I hate the outdoors, and I like everything to be artificial. I don’t like environment, I like air-conditioning and florescent lighting.

What’s it like when you come home to Perth, are you staying with your Mum and Dad and its like you’re fourteen again.

It is like that staying in Applecross with Mum and Dad. It’s great though because I have a car in Perth, as you just have to, so I can catch up with friends… or avoid friends.

What’s up next for you?

World Domination
