Why Make Sense?

‘Why Make Sense’, Hot Chip’s sixth studio album brings you a healthy serving of what Hot Chip does best: Hot Chip. This album seemingly aims to bring some of the bands live flavour to the record, which has culminated as a balance of electronic and analogue instrumentation throughout the album, particularly on the titular ‘Why Make Sense’, which strikes that balance perfectly with raw, post-punk inspired drums and sharp melodic digital tones. A natural progression for the band that is sure to sate the appetites of fans

Daniel Johns

Talk

Daniel Johns’ ‘Talk’ marks the first music from the Silverchair front man in 8 years, and it shows. ‘Talk’ is very much an R&B album, sprinkled with upbeat poppy treats throughout – a massive divergence from his usual guitar-heavy rock. ‘Cool On Fire’, John’s latest single is a collaboration with Lorde producer in which Johns’ soft, vocals float effortlessly over the bouncy contemporary pop beat. ‘Talk’ is an all new sound for Johns’, which has been executed with the deft touch of a professional. Unexpectedly upbeat!

The Silver Globe and The Amber Light

Former member of Misty Dixon, Jane Weaver has released her sixth solo record. Some copies come with a bonus mini album ‘The Amber Light’ which makes this a value for money purchase. This album is filled with Weaver’s signature blend of folk and woozy psychedlic beats. A few of the tracks are produced by the wonderful David Holmes, while a couple of others were guided by Andy Votel. Badly Drawn Boy guests on ‘Don’t Take My Soul’. This a great album for lazy days and cold afternoons.
