THE UP IN POP-UP!
Ah, Zara Bryson. This girl has her fashion heart in the right place. So much so she’s jumping in to help local designer Jaime Lee Major (her of the incredible pink aliens from the PFF UP finale) get across the Nullabor and show at Sydney Fashion Week. How? By hosting a Jaime Lee Pop Up shop at her WAFA nominated store in Subiaco, naturally. From November 1 to 14 you can pop into Zara Bryson and pick up some truly psychedelic Jaime Lee threads, including the watercolour printed cape ($1,300) and body con dresses ($360), plus terribly affordable t-shirts for the boys ($70-$100). Best part is you’re supporting a promising young designer in the process! And checking out one of the best boutiques around. Zara Bryson is located at 2 / 502 Hay Street in Subiaco. Jaime Lee Major’s Pop Up Shop is cash only. www.jaimelee.com.au
CELEBRATE THE SUN
Fashion can be a powerful force. It can change the way you feel about yourself in an instant. And it can change the lives of others dramatically. Hence Celebrate The Sun, a collaboration between The Bird, Lisa Chau and Beyond Blue + Youth Beyond Blue, a fashion fundraising event designed to raise awareness about depression. Martini Coz, Generics, Joveeba, Merge, One Fell Swoop, On Tour and OiP faves Alister Yiap and Zoe Trotman’s Lonely 8-Bit Heroes are all donating pieces while WAFA nominee Emma Bergmeier from Dropstitch is supplying the street sourced models. All items (including 8-Bit new season tux leggings!) will be up for silent auction, led by Jacqui Brown, while The Bird will donate a $1 from every guest through the door. Fashion tackling depression – what better way to celebrate the sun! Celebrate The Sun has been taking place at The Bird on November 10. www.beyondblue.org.au
