Bryony Kimmings is a Sex Idiot and a Supreme Storyteller

2773_Forest_EFUL_IMAGEWatching British performance artist Bryony Kimmings share her most personal stories through a comedic mix of interpretive dance, poetry, song and unexpected visual performance is something to behold.

Running around the stage, changing from one microphone to another, at other times just shouting at the top of her voice, always fairly excited and with a story to tell – Kimmings is like that mad friend that everyone has, the one who is a hoot to hang out with, as long as it’s in fairly small doses.

Fifty minutes of Kimmings’ show ‘Sex Idiot’ is perfectly timed. It’s a roller coaster journey as Kimmings shares her journey of discovering that she has contracted a STI. The doctor offers a service that sends anonymous letters to everyone you’ve had sex with to inform them that they should get a sexual health test. Kimmings goes for the more personal approach and gets in touch with all her former lovers herself.

For each paramour who returned her email or Facebook message, she has created a performance piece that has been incorporated into the show. Kimmings delivers a Dylanesque ode to the many different names for the vagina to honour a former fuck buddy.  While she recalls one long term relationship by destroying things. Another former lover is remembered over a cup of tea with a delightful poem.

Unpredictable, ever so slightly mad and mountains of fun; this show shares a lot, Kimmings’ brutal honesty is remarkable. This is not a polished Fringe World show with acrobatics and burlesque, this is raw and revealing look into relationships, sexual attitudes and the crazy things that people do.

‘Sex Idiot’ has it’s final show tonight at 11:00pm New Shows just announced! at the Circus Theatre in the Perth Cultural Centre. Head to www.fringeworld.com.au for tickets.
