BLACK SWAN THEATRE COMPANY

 Venus in Fur

A tale of power, sexuality and the blurring of lines between fact and fiction. A New York playwright becomes fascinated to fiery actress Vanda, by becoming Vanda’s slave she begins to enjoy and abuse her newfound power.

Dinner

Heath Ledger Theater: 1 hour

Paige Janssen, throws a glamorous dinner party celebrating the release of her husband’s new book. Inviting an array of memorable quests who are infolded in a sea of drama , this black satirical comedy is bound to be deliciously entertaining.

14 March – 29 March

Glengarry Glen Ross

Internationally acclaimed and the subject of a critically admired film, David Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize-winning story of salesmen struggling to stay afloat in the cut-throat world of Chicago real estate.

23 May – 14 June

Blithe Spirit

Noel Coward is back in style, this play enjoyed a long season in the West End last year. While researching his next novel, Charles Condomine employs the services of a clairvoyant to see whether it is possible to contact souls in the afterlife. Unfortunately for Charles, the psychic summons the ghost of his dead wife, Elvira. It’s soon clear that the morally untidy Elvira wishes to reunite with her husband, much to the dismay of Charles’ new (and living) wife, Ruth.

18th July – 9th August

Extinction

From the mind of Helpmann Award-winning Australian playwright comes the world premiere of ‘Extinction’, a unique drama with a timely and important message of environmental awareness and conservation.

The Red Balloon

A first in family programming for Black Swan. Red balloon tells a tale of a young boy on his his way to school, who finds a red balloon tangled around a lamp post.

1 Oct- 17 Oct

Next to Normal

Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning rock musical that has charmed audiences on Broadway and will be a first for Perth.

7 -22 Nov

WASO

Brahms Festival: Concertos and Symphonies

Principal Conductor Asher Fisch and international guest artists will play an unforgettable celebration of Brahm’s greatest works over two weekends.

20 – 29 August

Symphony in the City

In 2015, this spectacular event will feature classic and movie favourites performed by the Orchestra and WASO Chorus under the direction of Principle Conductor Asher Fisch. The concert will finish with 1812 Overture accompanied by an explosive firework display, which is a highlight of this free outdoor concert.

12 Dec

James Morrison and WASO: A Journey Through Jazz

Australia’s favorite trumpeter James Morrison journeys through history’s jazz greats. Hear the greatest jazz standards made famous by Lois Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Herbie Handcock. This concert if performed by the full Symphony Orchestra, talented young vocalist Hetty Kate, and Australia’s favorite trumpet player, James Morrison.

3-4 Dec

Dr Who Symphonic Spectacular

Featuring a cast of over 145 musicians, actors and singers and presented by the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, not to mention Daleks, Cybermen and a host of other Doctor Who monsters, Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular is a musical celebration of the iconic TV series.

31 Jan

The Music of James Bond

Australian songstress, Kat Ceberano, returns to WASO for a showcase of the greatest songs from the 007 film series. Expect to hear all your favourites – Goldeneye, Diamonds Are Forever, Goldfinger, Skyfall – and many more.

10-11 April

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

In 2011, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra presents the third and final instalment of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Winner of 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Score, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King will be performed live to the epic motion picture by WASO, WASO Chorus and soloist.

12-13 June

WA BALLET

Zip Zap Zoom

Step through the screen into the virtual world, where nan identity becomes an avatar, the choices are infinite and the aim of the game is to win. Digital becomes reality, but can we still find real human emotions and connections? An energetic fusion of hip-hop, ballroom, cabaret and other dance forms, Zip Zap Zoom is an electrifying feast for the senses.

6-28 Feb

Embraceable You

With the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, a showcase of the “Father of American Ballet” George Balanchine’s best work ‘Who cares?’, ‘Concerto Barocco’, and ‘Tarantella’ will be performed.

Coppélia

Set to the charming music of Léo Delibes, this much-loved romantic classic, joyously refreshed by choreographer Greg Horsman has something for all the family

11–26 Sept

Cinderella

Neglected and mistreated by her step-family, poor Cinderella dreams of a better life. The magical appearance of her Fairy Godmother restores hope, and all her wishes are granted. Able to take her place amongst the ladies at Prince Charming’s ball, the Prince is enchanted with the beautiful girl. But when the magic fades at midnight and she flees, leaving behind only a slipper –will the Prince find his true love again? And can Cinderella find her happy ending?

From the Rubble

Exploding the boundaries of theatre, From the Rubble is a unique multi-artform piece inspired by the work of one of Australia’s most cherished writers and journalists, Walkley Award winner Sophie McNeill. Melissa Cantwell uses the evocative images embedded in Sophie’s work to give you a glimpse into the lives of civilians in conflict zones. Exploring themes of displacement, transformation and hope, From the Rubble tells compelling personal stories that find joy in the resilience and ingenuity of women the world over.

By Perth’s award-winning Side Pony Productions and featuring vocal performances by some of Perth’s finest actors, this interactive audio experience places you at the centre of the action. When a bag full of cash is brought into Peter’s very ordinary home, his family finds themselves caught up in a sinister and disturbing…

WA OPERA

The Song Was Wrong

Featuring a core ensemble and creative team of West Australia’s best artists alongside some of the country’s most respected designers, this highly visual and physical work tells the story of a pianist who loves and loses the woman who will change his life forever. An exploration of love, art and the relationship between a musician and his muse.

Shakespeare says there are seven ages in your lifetime — this is your chance to check in and see how you’re travelling. yourseven is an invitational and immersive show all about you. Moving through a large outdoor installation in the Courtyard at the State Theatre Centre of WA, you will participate in a series of encounters from your past, present…

John Steinbeck’s classic tale of drifters Lennie and George explores male friendships, transient workforces and class divides in this compelling and enduring tale that has an astonishing resonance in a contemporary world.

The Giants

The Fever and the Fret

The Fever and the Fret was originally written as part of a Playwriting Australia Broome workshop, and was re-worked in 2013/2014 as part of the second round of those workshops.
