Time For Us

First of all our HUGE CONGRATULATIONS go to the winners of the GLAMMYS who were announced at the Pride MASKerade Ball. They were all worthy winners.

An even HUGER THANK YOU to the sponsors who make them all possible.
Through the year keep a note of people, organisations and places you think have delivered for the GLBTIQ community and nominate them for an award next year.

Now Pride is at the ‘business end’ of its year with our major events fast approaching. So firstly a reminder of the dates you need to keep free:

LAUNCH OF THE PRIDE FESTIVAL..THURSDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2010

CITY OF PERTH PRIDE FAIRDAY ……….SATURDAY 9TH OCTOBER 2010

PRIDE FESTIVAL…………………………….9TH – 30TH OCTOBER 2010

PRIDE PARADE ………………………….. ….SATURDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2010

PRIDE PARTY……………………… ….… .. SATURDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2010

PRIDE WOMENS PARTY…………….…….SATURDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2010

In addition we are introducing a

YOUTH PARTY …………….…..SATURDAY 16TH OCTOBER 2010

This will be strictly for those under 18 years old.

This is the time of year when the GLBTIQ community of Perth has the opportunity to remember, plan, get together and celebrate our own community.

It is a time to remember all the hard work, sacrifice and effort that has gone into making our community what it is today.

It is also a time to plan for the future to ensure our community continues to enjoy all the benefits that so many people have fought so hard for, and that we continue to move forward.

Of course Fairday – often called ‘Christmas for Gays’ – is a wonderful time to get together with our families and friends.

It is also a great opportunity for those wishing to – or thinking about – joining our community, to come and meet people and organisations and get information to help them in a friendly and non-threatening environment.

It is very easy to forget with time and acceptance, how hard it is for young people to make that life-changing acknowledgement of who they really are.

This is especially true for those in our rural areas. We can all do our bit to help, and Fairday is an ideal time to make everyone feel welcome and accepted.
After all – we don’t discriminate!!

And we celebrate publicly with our own Parade at the end of the month.

All these aspects of our lives and our community are important and we hope that you will support these events which we put on for the benefit of all our community.

Your support will also reward a very hard-working committee who have put an enormous effort into this year’s Pride Festival to make it varied and enjoyable, interesting and affordable – with something for everyone.

With your support we really will have a HAPPY PRIDE!!

Details of these events – and everything else Pride can be found on our website
www.pridewa.asn.au.

As always your ongoing input is important to us so please contact us at pride@pridewa.asn.au with any ideas and suggestions.
