HEROES (Wed Apr 18, Seven- 8:30pm)
It’s an excellent series, but I have no idea why Thoms Dekker’s (Zach) agent refused to allow the show writers to make Zach a gay guy. Let’s face it, the way Dekker plays Zach he doesn’t work as anything other than Claire’s queer buddy- even Julian Clary is more butch!
GROSSOLOGY (Fri Apr 20, ABC- 5:30pm)
If you find a dismembered body in your punchbowl at a party, you know to call the CSI (after first calling the punch manufacturer to see if it wasn’t an initial ingredient), but who do you call when a robber can only be traced by the scent of his farts? You call the animated brother and sister Icky Crime Team of GROSSOLOGY, who specialize in solving crimes revolving around smelly and/or disgusting bodily secretions. Think CSI, for kids, with less homoeroticism from Nick and Greg and more earwax and projectile vomit.
BONDI RESCUE (Mon Apr 23, Ten-8pm)
It may purport to be a documentary following a bunch of real life lifeguards at the in/famous Bondi Beach, but let’s face it folks- the camera features so many close-ups of the hunky life-savers’ Speedo-clad (or even sometimes Speedo *unclad* ) buttocks that we know who the real stars of the shows are…
SPICKS AND SPECKS (Wed Apr 25, ABC-8pm)
Mostly amusing version of GOOD NEWS WEEK/THE GLASS HOUSE with music and songs instead of current affairs. Host Adam Hills is funny, if a bit too ‘safe’- but any musical trivia comedy game show brave enough to have Jimmy Barnes and Weird Al Yankovich on rival teams has a mighty big pair of maracas!
USA HIGH (Wed Apr 25, Seven- 1:30am)
Fair SAVED BY THE BELL/WELCOME BACK KOTTER clone about a high school class of freaks and weirdos (if they were FREAKS AND GEEKS, that’d be a whole other story) that is innocuous yet unremarkable, despite a keen script (‘Take it off! Take it all off!’ ‘-That’s your father!’ ‘…Put it on! Put it all back on!’) ;You have the cute jocks, the vacuous cheerleaders, the studious Asian, the Jive-talkin’ black girl- heck, throw in a gay drama club student and a lesbian girl taking shop class, and you could have a stereotype royal flush!
THE MIGHTY BOOSH (Thurs Apr 26, SBS-10pm)
Completely bizarre, cult British comedy about a pair of friends/flatmates who also appear to live in a zoo that makes BLACK, SPACED and LITTLE BRITAIN look about as weird as MASS FOR YOU AT HOME.
