“Three of the characters I play are women” said Hoffman” They’re all in their mid-40’s and their connection is all attendees at a singing conference.” Said Hoffman

“I really wanted to tap into that feeling of not being young enough to be decribed as emerging, and not old enough to sit back at think about your achievements. It’s a little bit of a mid life crisis theme,” said Hoffman describing the inspiration for the show.

Hoffman declares his love of cabaret shows, and understands why so many opera people are attracted to the art form saying the skills are easily transferred. “My voice has always suited other genres like musical theatre…so it’s crossing over and making your own opportunities.”

Desperately Young at Heart is at Casa Mondo from 17-20 February. For details on all Fringe World shows head to www.fringeworld.com.au
