Tatie here! mOther’s just on the loo, doing a… well, you know.
Ah, Pride. It’s that time of year again when the prodigal gays come home, the exes of festivals past haunt our every move and we dress up our dogs in outrageously camp outfits and parade them around on stage… and no I’m not talking about Pride Fairday.
There is also something about this time of year that induces a singles feeding frenzy- with no dark corner safe from impatient frotting. One pair of dirty puppies were so busily engaged in an act of public girl-on-girl action at a popular nightspot recently that they didn’t even notice a tipsy trickster stealing the shoes right off their feet!
If you’re feeling a little shameless yourself, get down to Connections on Saturday October 17 for Shameless’ next installment, Jocks and Cheerleaders. Ridiculously tight football shorts, sweaty lycra and pom-poms will be de rigueur and if you are inside the club before midnight you could be up for the $250 prize for best dressed…or undressed as the case may be.
Tatie says let them eat cake! There will be strictly no diets allowed at the Sweet Bake-off and High Tea Party on Sunday October 18. Be at the Court Hotel at 2pm to enter your most fabulous baked goods to win prizes for best decorated, most erotic or best tasting entries or just come along to join the fun and gorge yourself. Mmmm, cake!
We all let our hair down a little and unleash our inner trash bag for Pride but as one well known Perthbian found out; it may not be wise to stand too long in the one place after a hard night on the tiles. The poor love was stopped by police on a street-corner after being mistaken for a working girl… those stilettos and fishnets probably didn’t help. Tatie hears she gave them quite a lecture…
Catholic high schools are a hotbed of sexual tension, burgeoning desires and sexy uniforms… at least I think that’s what the musical Bare is all about? It is playing at Connections from Wednesday October 21 and if nothing else it will be ironic to watch as Perth’s most well-loved gay nightclub is transformed into a Catholic church!?!?
Whoops… mOther’s caught me trying to steal her column!
Hello m’dears, mOther here. Don’t you just love family columns? One instant it’s your mad drunk aunt, the next it’s your scary mOther, rolling around on the floor in a white wig, singing German lullabies. Or at least that’s what it was like a few Pride’s back. Now? It’s all afternoon tea and hot cakes with the hot cake hubby. So what to do? Read on… oh, and thanks aunty!
Voix De La Ville should read fabulous in French. But it doesn’t. But it should. This Pride Ash Baroque and the Voix kids are pulling out all the stops and will be featuring The Creature’s Voice, Ruby Roses, Panache, the amazing poetry of Amber Fresh, Pseudoskirt, Panache, Disgrace Kelly, Ostin Torre, Sheila Mann, Glamourpuss and Ash Baroque along with the living legends that are Strykermeyer and… you guessed it… the grand old dame herself, Cindy Pastel. Petrosex will be on the decks and the whole night kicks off at The Castle on Sunday October 25. Doors open 5pm for the afternoon matinee so get in and have some fun. Oh… and don’t eat the sausages.
Expect a Lesbian Mud Wrestling Smackdown of smackdown proportions on Wednesday October 28. No other news as to what will exactly be happening, but undoubtedly it will include lesbians, mud and wrestling… and lots of smackdowns! Wanna sign up? Email your stats to promo@connectionsnightclub.com with I WANNA GET DIRTY in the subject line and get ready to let the good times roll. And plop. And slam. And slop. And splat.
The official Pride After Party happens at Connections Nightclub on Saturday October 31 and promises to be huge. There will be three spaces – Main Room, Terrace and Warehouse Tent downstairs. The evening will feature 15 DJ’s with the running schedule listed in our Pride feature but the likes of Johnni P, Hustler, Kinky, Reuben, JJ vs Space Ace, Cinnamon, Brett N, Michy T, Milly, Brian vs Joby, Dave, Scout, Curlee and… pant pant pant… Mandy! Stunning line up, one only rivaled by the drag shows: Ash Baroque, Sandy Beaches, Jemina Beam, Glamourpuss, Strykermeyer, Dita, Sheila, Giselle, Fem, Val Nourished… and a reported special guest, although that could just be the glue talking. See our special super duper Pride special for a rundown on who’s what where. Tickets are $35 presale with doors open from 10pm and a huge warehouse party space promised.
There’s also the Street Party happening the same night over at The Court Hotel. In attendance? Ruby Rose, Grant Smillie and Zoe Badwi from TV Rock. There will also be street theatre galore as well as a whole host of DJs and drag shows. That’s four sections for you to party in: Beer Garden, Main Room, Overflow and The Street. Expect bouncy castles and lots more with tickets on sale now for $45 presale. They will be more on the door… if they aren’t sold out. And yes, you can expect them to sell out.
That’s all… in the meantime, have fun!
Lovelovelove,
Tatie & mOther
p.s. someone hand me a… knitting needle!
