Freedom Centre is preparing for Pride month with a bundle of events and fun times ahead!!

This year the Pride Patron, Mark Reid is also the newly appointed manager of WAAC’s Diverse Sexuality Health Promotion Services, which Freedom Centre is managed by! So the Pride Patron event for 2009 will be ‘Stars of the Future’ – an event featuring the talents from our young people at the Freedom Centre and in our community!

Mr Mark Reid, the Patron of PRIDE, invites us all to a variety evening featuring some of the great young members of our community who will showcase their talents to entertain, educate and delight from 6pm Wed 7th Oct at the Burlesque lounge. Anyone who is under 30 is encouraged to register via www.freedom.org.au to perform their talents on the night!

FC also has Faces for Freedom for PRIDE happening throughout Pride month and we want YOU to contribute and make a statement about why YOU have PRIDE – it’s as easy as taking a photo!! Details at www.facesforfreedom.blogspot.com and FC will have FFF4PRIDE photo booths at our Fairday stall, Open Day and ‘Stars of the Future’ talent night!

Freedom Centre’s other Pride event is the FC Open Day on Sat 31st Oct 1-4pm. It’s a day for our community to come together to see the Freedom Centre and what we’ve been doing over the last year, including our Faces for Freedom photos, short films and slideshows of our retreats and other happenings at Freedom Centre this year. It will also be our 15th Birthday celebration with a rainbow cake, balloon animals, a piñata and a photo booth for people to do their ‘Faces for Freedom with Pride’ Photos! We will also be doing face-painting and drag makeup for the day and parade later that night.

And of course Freedom Centre will be participating in Fairday and the Pride Parade as always!

We will have a stall with info, free condoms, the FFF Pride photo booth and a chill out space at Fairday. This year we’re also selling badges, bracelets, keyrings, and Tshirts – all designed and made by Freedom Centre young people! The proceeds all go to Freedom Centre.

Freedom Centre are collaborating with the Step1 street work program and the Youth Affairs Council of WA for our parade entry which makes a statement about LGBT Youth Homelessness! We invite anyone in the community to join us in our parade entry!!
