DragStars: Dita

DitaOnce upon a time she was Tina Thunder-Pussy until a DJ, (typical DJ!) got it all wrong and decided to give her a new name. It was accidental, of course, but the audience went with it. Tina Thunder-Pussy was duly christened Dita, after Madonna’s fantasy name in her book, Sex. Ironically at the time Dita was performing a tribute to Madonna at Club Lola’s – a long gone gay and lesbian bar in Fremantle.

It has now been a decade in the business for Dita, ‘I first started to do drag when I was fifteen years old to get into nightclubs. I had a few friends that were older and that used to go out all the time’.

Her all time favourite performance was in ‘Canned Heat’ a successful, month long stint at Connections Nightclub in the late 90’s with fellow queens Barbeque, Mindy, and Ben. Out of the three songs in ‘Canned Heat, she enjoyed perfoming ‘Addicted to Base’ the most. Dita’s idol is Divine, a renowned actor, nightclub singer, and drag performer best known for eating dog poop in the 70’s film Pink Flamingos.

Dita’s single and she loves straight, muscly, hairy men! When asked to describe her most glamorous outfit, she replied ‘A long, green, latex corset that I borrowed from a female drag queen called Rachel’. Dita’s number one tip for complete fabulousness is simple, ‘Always use a blending brush when applying make up. It makes you look flawless’.
