Brisbane Pride

Get ready to bend some bananas as Queensland is anything but straight in 2008. June takes Brisbane’s culture outside the box, with events for the boys (can you say Sauna tour?) and the girls (Las Vegas may be in America, but Lez Vegas is in Brisbane). The festival foreplay climaxes on June 14 with a march, a fairday and a party. The three-in-one special starts with the Brisbane Pride Rally and March from Queens Gardens all the way to Musgrave Park, where the community revels in a full lineup of Fairday fun that includes karaoke and a pet parade. As the sun set, the party pulse rises. Girls can Grinder their night away at the women’s only after party alongside more drag kings than Elvis had polyester suits. Alternatively, the massive Official Pride After Party at the Wickham Hotel welcomes one and all for a night of DJ tunes that will leave the bananas twisted and keep the crowd jumpin, jivin’ and wailin’. www.pridebrisbane.org.au
