May Tasty Taties!

THE CATHERINE TATE SHOW (Fri May 2, ABC-11:25pm) – Repeat episodes of the love-her-or-hate-her gifted British comic’s sketch show features Tate as a whole busload of characters, ranging from the excellent (Derek, the homophobic Gay man) to the strangulation worthy (After ‘Look at moi’, ‘Am I bovvered?’ is the catch phrase most likely to send me into a sporkicidal rage).

AUSTRALIA: LAND OF PARROTS (Sun May 4, ABC-7:30pm) – Most bird-fanciers know that Australia is the ancestral home of the budgie (the bird, not the one in Ian Thorpe’s speedos), but this excellent Natural History program reveals just how many of the Psittacidae family call Australia home, but let’s move on before you all get Cocky…

COMPASS: RICHARD DAWKINS-THE ENEMIES OF REASON (Sun May 4, ABC-9:30pm) – The world’s most famous Atheist, Professor Richard Dawkins, is back with another series looking at Christian Fundies, Creationists and other members of the Religious Wrong. Excellent series, but airing it on the religious program COMPASS? Isn’t that like a panel on Childhood Bedwetting being chaired by the Boogeyman?!

BROTHERS AND SISTERS (Sun May 4, Seven-9:30pm) – Welsh actor Matthew Rhys excels as the conflicted Kevin Walker, the best and most realistic Gay character on TV right now – though he’s got some competition, as his Uncle Saul (60-something actor Ron Rifkin) contemplates outing himself. If you don’t watch this show, put your Gay Gene on Ebay!

WOMEN’S MURDER CLUB (Tues May 13, Ten-9:30pm) – A bunch of female friends, who gather for coffee and a chat, start reviewing Cold Cases and bringing killers to justice between the jam tarts and the games of Canasta. It’s like THE JOY LUCK CLUB with projectile weapons.
