Purple Naked Ladies

The Internet

(Odd Future)

Admittedly, the title alone put me off from listening with ease to this album. But I’m glad I entered it from a difficult stance: The Internet won hands down by making my mood theirs, melding it to their whim, getting me sonically stoned on the laidback vibe. This band offer up an awkward ambience that is just brilliant, reminiscent of slow wave acid hip hop from the ‘90s. Cocaine is a breathy Orient electro gem, full with numb lips and audio breakdowns while Ode To A Dream is new-gen trip hop. Overall? Understated gospel sounds push this album over to the highly recommended list. Get it.
