Last but not least, in the U.S., the state of Washington could face an interesting ballot measure that would require straight marriages to produce children in 3-years or face annulment of their union. The move is designed to exploit the assumption that producing biological children was a necessary requirement for marriage. This assumption was a central tenet of the most recent Supreme Court decision on gay marriage.

Also, in the U.S., the state of Montana revived a gay civil rights bill, while an anti-gay marriage bills were taken off the legislative agenda in New Mexico. Mary Cheney, the vice president’s daughter, said her decision to have a child with her same-sex partner was personal, not political. And finally, in Connecticut, lawmakers intend to introduce a bill that would legalize gay marriage.
