Jamiroquai – High Times Singles 1992-2006 – Sony

Jamiroquai - High Times CD CoverOccasionally touted as a white Stevie Wonder, Jay Kay brought disco and funk back to the charts during the Nineties with six albums over fifteen years. Giving us such dancefloor hits as Canned Heat, Little L, Cosmic Girl and a plethora of others (more so from the album The Return of the Space Cowboy than Emergency on Planet Earth.) In a recent interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, he commented about his label Sony that “These days it’s 18% music and it’s bloody 82% marketing bullshit … Next time I do an album, I’m gonna put it up on the internet for five f_cking dollars.” He also remarked that a Jamiroquai “greatest hits” album will be released in 2006, purely out of contractual obligation: “2006, they’re out of the f_cking picture. Take your greatest hits and stick it up your f_cking arse.” Well it is the season you know.
