OUTfashioned: Re-birthing Style

It is that time of the year again when our minds start to think about STYLEAID, well, the minds of those of us that work on the event, anyway! The process for the number one fashion fundraising event for Perth begins in late November and takes us through to the event itself which will be held this year on Friday, July 18.

For the past 10 years STYLEAID has been held the first or second Friday in August, but the option to once again move the event to a new location (and away from the date of the Broome races, which it has clashed with a couple of times) felt like the right thing to do for 2008.

And so, STYLEAID’s 11th year will see the event move to the Burswood complex, as Perth’s premier fashion event promises to be bigger and better than ever before!

With a new date and a new venue, a host of exciting elements are beginning to evolve and I am pleased to share a couple of them with you in this article!

This year will see the emerging designer element of the parade move to another level with the establishment of the STYLEAID emerging designer award. With sponsorship from SAINTS Clothing, five young designers will be chosen to showcase their ranges on the catwalk with one lucky designer being named the STYLEAID emerging designer. The winner will receive as their prize the chance to have their spring/summer and autumn/winter ranges stocked in SAINTS for 12 months – a great way to get a helping hand into the retail marketplace here in Perth.

Also returning this year will be Veuve Clicquot who will once again be the sponsor of STYLEAID’s Veuve Clicquot VIP tables. These 10 special tables will all be in prime positions in the ballroom and will offer guests some extra special advantages, including Veuve Clicquot served to their tables and specially created gift boxes.

Lastly, but far from leastly, our fantastic stylist Aly May has once again come up with a theme that really speaks to what we want in terms of look and feel for 2008 – Renaissance.

Renaissance will build on the 10 events that have come before it, capturing the real essence of STYLEAID for the guests that will once again primp, preen, strut and pose for the fashion fundraising event in Perth.

Along with naming rights sponsor Van Lee and the WA AIDS Council, STYLEAID is supported this year by Burswood, Veuve Clicquot, Belvedere Vodka, Network Ten, Gage Roads Brewing, Saints Clothing, Stockman Paper, Lamb Print, Stefan the Diamond Centre, M.A.C and Globetrotter Travel.
