Preaching to the Converted

When my friends are looking for something to wear to a special occasion, they invariably head to Preacher in Mt Lawley. And although I have mentioned this store before in OUTFashioned (on one of my road trips to Mt Lawley), I thought it was time to pay another visit to Pat Kong to see what Preacher has put together for the start of 2008.

Preacher is all about Pat really – her designs, her attention to detail and quality. She is in the store most days and because of that has a loyal following of people who continue to come back with each new range that is completed. What’s more, Pat can always be counted on to produce a classic look with an edge that grabs your attention. With a styling signature of French cuffs on most of her long sleeve shirts, she transcends much of the other men’s wear that is on offer by local designers in Perth.

The current range that Pat has in store again showcases the attention to detail that proves her clothing is a cut above the rest. Moreover, Pat has not succumbed to getting her clothing made off shore and continues to have them made locally, ensuring the quality her customers have come to expect is present in each new seasonal range.

With shirts, pants, suits and waistcoats all featuring in the current range, you will find that the attention paid to each piece is exceptional. This is just one of the reasons Pat has trouble keeping stock in her store – when people see the quality they snap the pieces up quickly.

Many of the looks at Preacher are not just for one season and they can combine for a year-round look, although being able to purchase a few signature pieces for each new season gives your wardrobe a fresh vibrant feel. In store now you will find shirts in pink, blue and white with amazing detailing on the French cuffs that give a twist to the classic shirt styles.

Pat sees silver, lavender and khaki also being strong statements for men’s wear this year, and she already has attracted some high profile people into her store on a regular basis. Luc Longley has been known to stop by to purchase a suit or two, and on a recent trip to Perth, swimmer Michael Klim dropped in to buy up big.

This is a store where you will not find pushy shop attendants trying to pressure you into buying something that you don’t want. The clothes really do speak for themselves in this store, where some men have been known to go in and snap up complete collections.

Oh, and she, of course, also designs and sells some of the most stunning women’s wear that you will find on the shelves of a fashion store in Perth.

So, if in Mt Lawley do yourself a favour and drop into 555 Beaufort Street and check out this new trans-seasonal range before it is all sold. You can also check out Preacher online at www.preacher.com.au.
