CD Review: Sounds from Nowheresville

The Tings Tings
Sounds from Nowheresville

Sony

Have The Tings Tings left it too long since their debut success? Can this collection match the quality of their first album that spawned the hits Great DJ, We Started Nothing and Come On And Let Me Go. Hit Me Down Sonny has a great mix of rolling drums and chanting vocals, Hang It Up continues in a similar vein, a style reminiscent of white hip hop hits of the early ‘80s. While most tracks sound acoustic and organic, One By One is all electronic – reminiscent of the sound of Pet Shops Boys. Not ground breaking but interesting.
