Love & Other Catastrophes

Can you bend it like Beckett? Slam it like Shakespeare? If you think you have what it takes to be an award-winning scriptwriter, then the Maj Monologues Competition is for you. The premise is simple: write an engaging, witty or super insightful monologue with an expected performance duration of eight to 15 minutes on the theme ‘Love & Other Catastrophes’. Submit your original monologue entry with six identical hard copies to His Majesty’s Theatre by 5pm, February 29. If your entry is selected as one of the eight finalists your monologue will be performed live as part of a six-performance finals season DownStairs at the Maj. The overall winner, announced May 3, will take home a cash prize of $3000 while a $1000 Hawaiian People’s Choice Award will also be presented. www.hismajestystheatre.com.au
