Last Surviving Munchkin from "The Wizard of Oz" turns 94 Today

WizardLollipop-GangJerry Maren, born Gerard Marenghi, is the last surviving actor to have played a munchkin in 1939’s “The Wizard of Oz”. Maren played the green outfitted member of the Lollipop Guild who handed Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) a lollipop.

Maren is also known for his work on “The Gong Show”, “The Odd Couple” and his portrayal of The Hamburglar and Mayor McCheese in various commercials for McDonald’s. He also assisted his friend Billy Barty in organizing the not for profit, Little People of America.

Maren turns 94 today.
