Is Frank Ocean’s new record about to drop?
The singer updated his website with this library book image showing a due date of July 2016 leading to speculation that the arrival of his long awaiting second record is imminent.
Ocean’s first album ‘Channel Orange’ came out in 2012 and received wide spread acclaim. Prior to that Ocean had been a ghost writer for other artists and been part of the Odd Future collective. A year before releasing ‘Channel Orange’ he put out a popular mix-tape.
Shortly after releasing his album Ocean posted a letter on his Tumblr account sharing more about his sexuality with his fans. R&B music is an area where there are few openly gay men.
Ocean’s follow up was expected in 2014 but it’s been delayed over and over again, frustrating fans who are desperate to hear new music from the performer.
It’s believed that the album features collaborations with Happy Perez, Charlie Gambetta, Kevin Ristro alongside producers Hit-Boy, Rodney Jerkins and Danger Mouse.
The image posted to Ocean’s site today suggests the new album is titled ‘Boys Don’t Cry’.
Australian band The Avalanches are about to put out their follow up to their debut ‘Since I Left You’. They’ve only taken 16 years, so it’s not like Frank Ocean’s breaking any records.
